Rachel Forbes works with SHARE and its partners to build leadership among Indigenous trustees to shape models of investment that can support reconciliation and guide other Indigenous trusts and non-Indigenous investors.
Over the past 15 years Rachel has accumulated diverse experience working on environmental, Aboriginal and Indigenous legal issues, including national law reform campaigns, provincial policy changes, and specific Nation’s rights and consultation cases. She has depth of experience in the non profit and charitable sector, particularly in governance and strategic planning matters.
Rachel holds a law degree, focused on environment and Aboriginal issues, from the University of Victoria and an honours BA from Simon Fraser University in Geography and Communications. Rachel is a settler, grew up in shíshálh (Sechelt) territory and currently lives and works on unceded lands of the səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
