Laurence Riel

Senior Advisor, Aboriginal Initiatives & Workforce Planning
Pembina Pipeline Corporation

Laurence is a Senior Advisor with Pembina Pipeline Corporation focusing on Workforce and Aboriginal initiatives.   Over the past 30 years, Laurence has provided Aboriginal Relations and Engagement for Law Enforcement, Energy Sector, and Civil Construction. He is a committee member with Pembina’s Inclusion and Diversity, Women Building Futures, and Social Committee. In his present position, Laurence can do what he has passion and love to act on, “meeting community members and truly understanding the needs and how to best build a strong relationship no matter what adversity stands in our way.”

In addition to Laurence’s wealth of knowledge and experience, he has watched the tides change with Economic Development for Aboriginal People and the capacity building that has been realized but believes there is still a long way to go to be efficient, effective, and equitable. Encouraging training/education to employment opportunities allows for Aboriginal People to be recognized for present and future considerations within the Energy Sector.  He truly believes by working in harmony building a symbiotic relationship with all parties leads to stronger affiliation and engagement through honest and integral communication between Industry proponents and Aboriginal peoples across Canada.
