Gillian is a visitor in Treaty 7 Territory, Region 3 of the Métis Nation in Alberta, in Calgary with her partner and two young children. She is an unrelenting voice for change, and uses her voice and experiences to make workplaces, communities and politics more just, equitable and sustainable.
As a settler, she is doing the work to listen, learn, reflect, and act in Reconciliation, in her roles as the Lead Amplifier, at Amplify Work Consulting, and Assistant Professor at Mount Royal University (MRU). Through her work, she is a Reconciliation and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Practitioner, collaborating with organizations across Turtle Island to respond to the Calls to Action, and how to create more equitable and inclusive workplaces. In her role at MRU, Gillian amplifies dialogues about inclusive workplaces and how to integrate Reconciliation into the workplace with university students. Throughout her career, Gillian brings experience from the energy industry, the non-profit world, and small to mid-size growth organizations, specializing in people strategy and business strategy.
Gillian holds a Masters of Business Administration as well as a Certificate in Social Impact from Queens University. She is a 2021 United Way Culbert Family Award Winner for her philanthropic leadership, a 2019 Young Women in Energy award winner for her impact on the Energy industry, and a 2019 Canadian HR Awards Woman of Distinction Nominee for her innovative approach to Human Resources. In 2021, Gillian was recognized as an emerging leader in the Daily Oil Bulletin’s Rising Stars Class for her human centric approach in the Energy Industry. She lives her commitment to advancing an equitable and inclusive society for all equity-deserving groups, serving as the President for Ask Her YYC, as a Fellow with the Energy Futures lab, and as a coach for Fora’s Young Women on Boards program.
